I just bought Revolver the other day. It's a sweet add to my Beatles collection.

I definitely love Sgt Pepper the most. Abbey Road is fantastic as well.

they were good, but they are so overrated, prob the 2nd most overrated band ever, but a far distant 2nd to the stones....it's pop music, granted, prob the 1st of it's time, but the beatles were in the right place at the right time....it's just like saying the painter andy warhol is one of the best painters ever...he was the first to do what he did, but it's just random shit he did on lsd...

so, youre saying that
-pop music cant be good
-andy warhol isnt one of the best painters ever
-random stuff made on lsd cant be good (i guess you also dont like ds1 and 2)
-being the first to do something doesnt make you really gooood
-the beatles arent the best band in the world ever

I have never had an interest in the Beatles however odd that sounds, would someone like to give me a record to start off with?

No flaming, or piece of shit fake comments.

revolver, sgt. peppers, white album, abbey road, rubber soul.   < pick ANY, they're all masterpieces. and yes, your disinterest in the beatles is very odd.

i think my favorite is actually magical mystery tour.  wierd i know.

and Let It Be (also check out Let It Be... Naked - Paul remixed the album sans Phil Spector's wall of sound production, using some alternate takes, some of the tracks are way better)

I'm actually not a fan of Let It Be.  It hurts me to say this, but I think the Beatles were best when they were trippin' on psychadelics.

yeah...i don't know where i said anything that u assumed i said, but i'll clarify it for u cause ur obviously not the brightest of people...i clearly said the beatles were good, just overrated...
-pop music can be good (i.e. michael jackson in his early days), but i always hear the beatles r the best music to come out of london, they're not even close to led zepplin or pink floyd
-i don't think andy warhol's name is even mentioned when people talk about great painters (i like some of his work, i was just using him to prove my point)...anyone making a 5 and a half hour movie of nothing but a guy sleeping should never be discussed as great
-i've taken lsd before, and i know random stuff done can be good, but someone basing their whole life on it can never be considered great...apparently ur not aware of the effects of lsd on the brain
-being the first person to do something doesn't always make u great...ie: who gets more credit/publicity christopher columbus or leif erickson (the actual first person to discover america)?
-no, the beatles aren't the best band in the world ever

why don't u educate urself first, before trying to talk shit...my 16 year old step-sister makes better arguements than u do...

um, actually, DS 1+2 were done while the group was on a mushroom binge. not acid.

and he didn't say a lot of what you said, not that i agree with either of you really.

the beatles were innovators. so to say a band that came out after them is way better might depend on them being greatly influenced by their predecessors and also being a little derivative. which i'd say is the case. we have to assume that 99% of music today is at least partially due to the beatles whether you like them or not. and that alone is commendable.

both zeppelin and floyd were great bands, though you can't say zeppelin didn't steal much of their groove and that floyd isn't without its fair share of shitty material - though at least it was much more original.

im sure your sister makes arguements as good as mine, because im 16 too. but im trying.
and if you take it literally, beatles werent even the first band to play pop music. theres no straight line between rock n roll and pop music in the 50s and 60s. ive never heard about that leif erickson, but maybe he was just boating around and happened to land in america. actually i think the same happened with columbus, didnt he want to go to india or something? what do i know, im just a 16 years old kid with no education

Exactly. The right place at the right time. There would have been no 80s music scene as we know it without them. Kinda like the wheel, neat idea, but man, if someone came up with that today, we'd totally ignore that lame invention, who needs it, I have a car. You cannot take them out of the historical circumstances that helped create modern music. The were GREAT, they were inovators, they changed things radically. They also didn't exist in a vacuum, and were influenced by earlier and contemporary sources. The represent a dynamic shift in the way in which music was played and produced, and thier albums still outsell many modern artists. Not your favorite, cool, your opnion, but they really are one of the most imortant bands in recent music history.

You mistook London (a city) for England (a country) ? We should all take this into account when reading this.

lol beatles from london - dont know why that makes me laugh so much but it does. Probably cos they got mega-thick Scouse accents!!! PS dont wanna wade into this argument cos its largely pointless but the beatles are, were and always will be stand-out musicians who wrote some of the most beautiful and memorable songs ever. The fact we're still talkin about them today is testament to that fact. And Revolver is without a doubt my favourite album of theirs - and pretty much regarded as the first one to be heavily influenced by LSD and weed. And its a FUCKING amazing album. So there.

i want you is no heavy metal, is pure psychedelic rock. but yes, great track, one of my favorites in abbey road. actually, all songs are one of my favorites in abbey road. except maxwells and oh darling. those are just very very good, but not perfect. and her majesty. thats just good.

You may say that they are overrated, but they created so much. Everything that they did was withing a six year time span between 1963-1969. The Rolling Stones, by comparison, have been around for 45 years and can not get past R&B, Muddy Waters, etc.. They tried to with her Majesty's Satanic request, or whatever it was called, and it sucked. For that matter, their first hit was I wanna be your Man. That was written as a throw away by Lennon and McCaretney and they gave it to the Stones because they felt bad for them. Anyhow, the Beatles pushed the envelope for their day and time more than anyone else. For that they deserve mad props. Rolling Stones should go die because they are unimaginative hacks.

Anyhow, the Beatles pushed the envelope for their day and time more than anyone else. For that they deserve mad props. Rolling Stones should go die because they are unimaginative hacks.

qft

The Beatles were incredible innovators.  They were doing some crazy shity musically for their time.  I mean, just look at Eleanor Rigby: there are no guitars or drums, it's just a fucking double string quartet.  That must have been wild for that time period (for rock anyway).  And then you've got all the tape loops on Tomorrow Never Knows, etc...and the proto-prog of A Day In The Life, etc.

So don't hate.

If you're talking about heavy shit like She's So Heavy and Helter Skelter you should also check out Hey Bulldog. This was a song off of the yellow submarine album and is one of my favorite Beatles songs. I'd love to see it redone perhaps by a band who wouldn't shit all over it.

i love the beatles so much... for a while in my early 20's my love of the beatles was bordering slightly on scary stalker-like, insanity inducing obsession, but i discoveredqotsa and got that out of my system!  But I was really very depressed about the fact that i would never see the Beatles live, they would have been amazing, as long as you got em on a rooftop!  Watch this - Don't let me down' on the roof - love it!  FAB!

I cried buckets when george died, he was always my favourite!

they were, and still are, amazing, i love what they did, both for the impact they had on music at the time, and the influence they had on other bands
