Anybody know why they didn't put Era Vulgaris on Era Vulgaris? Think they took it out during mixing because they thought it didn't fit or something?

I personally did not like this song initially but it has grown on me a lot. It got mixed in with my CD on Windows Media Player and it seems to fit pretty well so I got to wondering.

Its weird how Josh seems to use the seed of one album to grow the next, a bit like how "Lullabies To Paralyse" had a line from the Mosquito song..

I believe when QOTSA comes out with a new album Josh already has the next one in his head.

I think the unofficial fan explanation is due to the legal problems between Reznor and Interscope they couldn't include it in the U.S. release. But since overseas are handled by other middlemen they can include that and were free to include bonus songs.

Josh has said in several interviews that the reason it wasn't included, was because he did some stuff on Year Zero which wasn't released so it was a tit for tat kind of thing, and also he wanted to release it in a cooler way (fans spreading it themselves) the reason it's not on the US version is because it is a bonus track not part of the album, and you dont get bonus tracks in america, and the reason for that is because every other country have to pay alot more for albums.

ffs....they wanted to do something nice for the real fans who knew about it in advance! and i remember all the build-up and hype when they were sending it out to us, and it was a lot of fun. and very rewarding for us. so i take them at face value when they say that.

QOTSA & EODM both have this habit of not giving the states as many songs as everyone else.
I think I had EV for like an hour or so before I went online and hunted down every track they didn't give us.
Didn't mind EV notr being on the album, saw it live and wasn't thrilled with it.

The reason there are bonus tracks outside of North America is because retailers and record companies need to give consumers an incentive not to buy the $15 import over the $30 cost of the album they're selling in Europe.  Consider yourself lucky you only have to pay half as much as the Euros.

I remember that, everyone called me a lying asshole when I made a thread asking people to sign up to win "the package". Now everyone just calls me an asshole... smile.gif

I don't actually think EV (the song) fits in with the rest of the album at all. It's a cool song, but it just doesn't work with the vibe of the album. I'm glad they let their fans hear the song anyway...

Depends where you get it. If you go to one of the bigger stores it's 20, but if you got it at like Wal-Mart or something you could get it for 15 including tax.

What do yall pay for DVDs?

Who's dollars are these? You pay $30 American and $36.50 American for your stuff? Shit I get DVDs for $5. Not usually but I can get almost anything for $10 and $15 is my limit unless it is something special.

I only bought the NZ copy, that was $34.95, or about US$26.00. The Euro's got different bonus tracks again from us.
I don't buy the line in here somewhere about the fans spreading the songs, many threads offering uploads of published, commercially available songs have been deleted and RD (the mod) has warned against posting such downloads. Fair enough, artists should protect their copyright etc, but issuing several different "mixes", if you like, of one album, then expecting folk who want all the bonus tracks etc to go out and buy each different copy, smacks of greed to me.
Give a fuck, the world needs more love.

u know, i kinda of imagine the LP's as an entire day. S/T has a morning sound to me if that makes any sense. R out of place but monsters really puts me in mid afternoon. SFTD is a late afternoon/early evening sound. LTP is Nightfall. Era Vulgaris is the dead of night. well now it might go full circle if and when they re-release S/T
Will there be enough water when my ship comes in?
