my city(boise) had the 2nd worst air quality in the united states because of wildfires last week....the 1st was sacramento.....

In about 100 years Norwich will have disappeared, and a quarter of London will be underwater.

shut the fuck up....
this is effecting people here.. in the states.. and its a WILDfire.. not pollution that the US is causing..
meanwhile back at the ranch...
noticed that the air is a lot dryer here today.. irritating he nose a bit.. wonder if this has somethign to do with it..

And I'm of no illusions that there won't be a decrease in air quality. But that will effect everyone. The difference is, you can deal with it from dry land.
Although America has suffered some from their pollution. Katrina...

The ash fall yesterday was kinda heavy: everything got dusted. The sun-light is orange, the shadows are bluish, and the air stinks. There is a health advisory to stay inside if you can.
My eyes are burning.

My eyes are burning.
thats what it was like when the fires happened here a few years back.. it was very hard to focus my eyes in the orange light.. reminded me of being the the GWTF dieo, or something..

the US is responsible for the majority of the air pollution in the world.
and when greenland is underwater, you can blame us.
so our waylon loving friend here has a point.
on THIS topic, I got a cold and it turned ASAP into bronchitis that I'm still sorting out. still hacking.

Yeah. Santa Anna conditions on the coast: which is why we can’t see shit. If you are on the other side of the day fire you should be having a bright sunny day.

I agree. But as a point to note, wildfires actually do cause a SHITLOAD of pollution. Nothing to do with what pilot said, just a fact.

did you all realize that contrary to all the "global warming" theories that are out there, there are also theories of gfoing into another mini ice age?
fuck.... im not saying pollution helps.. but the world is still thawing out form the last ice age...
as in ,even if there were no pollution, ther would stil be global warming..
im sure that the UK logging all of its trees off years ago doesnt help matter much either.
its so much eaiser to belive the hype....

right.. thaw was, i belive the intent of this topic.. how people in the us were suffering from wldfires here in the US...
i jsut take issue with the getting on the soapbox.

I notice it has a affect on peoples behavior: I mean we all know why it like this but, there seems to be a weird un-easiness in everyone’s demeanor. Not like the time when the Painted Cave fire ripped right though area between Santa Barbara and Goleta: taking out 1000 homes, but still it’s noticeable.

There's a few theories. 99% of scientists agree global warming is happening. Wether it will actually be a blessing in disguise to fend off a coming ice age is a seperate issue. Even if it does happen and there is an ice age, the seasons and the climate will still change drastically and in unimagineable ways.

clarify this for me, my contrary friend
ivbe listed why i think its hype above.
for one, that many scientists think were act=ually going to go into a mini ice age within the next ten years.. and second, any differences that have happend in temperature trends have been happening since we came out of an ice age.
so as i said, is global warming reality? possibly so..
would it be happening anywa?. i believe so..

Pilot of the dune's post was completely retarded. It just made me think of that fact. And when I say pollution I mean evironmental pollution as well, not just an annoying haze that screws up the air quality for a few days.

sorry
how is it ignorant?
as ive said, im sure pollution doesnt help..
but the world was once tropical..
this is why dinosaurs lived.. theyre cold blooded.
everywhere had to be warm enough for them to have lived.
meteor hits.. sun blocked.. we go into an ice age..
years and years later the sun comes back and the world starts thawing..
considering what whereever you may be in the world right now, used to be ice, and isnt now, unless youre posting from antactica, says to me that the world has been changing in temperature long before the US and its peskyu pollution.
so, how is this ignorant again?
keep in mind, once more.. weve only been taking taemperatures for like the last 100 years or so..
lets also not forget all of the valleys and caves we have right now that show the world was once under water well before we polluted it..

Dude. Just so you know: this is like being gassed. This not an "annoying haze".
It's dence and ash keeps getting in your eyes, and you breath bits of ash constantly: you taste it with every breath. it's hard to work outside right now: and inside smells like fire.
It’s good you all are environmentally aware but I just wanted to show you the smoke trail: because today is one of those “Cloud free days” so the amount of smoke shows just how intense wild fires are. This one is now over 80,000 Acres.

Holy shit! Didn't realise it was that bad, didn't make news here. I was just comparing to my own experience of bushfire smoke which wasn't that extreme.

the evidence of the ozone layer's deletion as is relates to the rise of pollution is irrefutable and has been published widely

That photo: is all smoke. I'm on the coast right under the thickist part. The fire is about 40 miles (as the crow flies) to the east. I just heard they are calling for a "voluntary" E-vac of Santa Paula and the upper Ojai valley: which is what they do just before sayin’, “All right…Everybody out!”

Like I said, I know that a forrest wasn't set on fire on purpose...I was developing the thread.
And actually global warming is bringing the ice age about earlier. All the ice that's been melted into water is diluting the salt (ie, warm) water and gulfs. No warm water means ice age is a'c'min.

yes, and there have even been many theories on that.. CFCs in the 80s, methane gas produced by cattle.
and so on and so on...
the argument is that suns rays can more easily pass though an atmosphere with less ozine, heating the earth, and it stays..
however, ever since we noticed ozone being there, weve seen the hole in it..
so.. as i said befoore.. about three times in this thread..
im sure pollution doesnt help.. but it doesnt change the fact that the world has been heating up since we came out of an ice age.
the "little ice age" (whisch is what we would be experiencing here shortly) also happeend well after the main event ice age. without the aid of any pollutants.
why does no one mention things like the earth being slightly off its axis from seismic events when talking about climate change?

of course the earth warms after an ice age, and i am not certain that is conclusive 'proof' of anything
pollution and weather patterns are hard facts, they are not theories
i find it hard to believe you don't think this is a problem and that pollution is a huge factor in the issue.
i think you're just being a brat.

I realise America isn't the only perpotrator in the pollution stakes (but it is the worst, creating 1/4 of the worlds pollution) but China and India don't generate much money from tourism and other setors. America could run itself on tourism money alone.

so you ddint take the time to even read the article i linked then?
that is scientific fact.
a shift in the axis of the earth has caused the last four ice ages..
fact.
and ive never said global warming is just a theory..
just that the pollution boogeyman that everyone raves about thse days is only one of many possible reasons ..

Anyway, you do realise that the earth is actually gradually ceasing to rotate? But these will happen years after global warming had already fuzzed us up.
