I read Child of Satan- Child of God, the biography of one of the girls in the family
She went all Christian to try and get parole but it didn't work
Prison sounds grim

My friends used to have a Manson covers band, and they had lots of groupies who wore long hippie dresses

There is some weird TV series about him with David Duchovny, some dramatisation/loose interpretation of events

i am quite surprised some of the members have been incarcerated for so long

there is definitely questions surrounding mental culpability due to the amount of psychotropic drugs consumed, and if the lesser members were acting under duress

such a weird footnote of the counterculture movement and a glimpse at its dark underbelly

I'd like to read Helter Skelter
I don't really know the details of Manson's philosophy, his whole "Race War" shtick
Supposedly Steve Bannon holds similar views regarding this issue?
Weird

My local charity shop had a book about him in the window this week, I wish I had bought it now

helter skelter was just the batshit ramblings of a drug-addled mind

his music was okay though, it's interesting that his talent led him to encounter big names in the industry at the time

I have written about this in finnish, so i'm not interested in writing the same in english. But Manson was a good guy, trust me.

He was just fucked over by some rich kids. No one tells the truth in court.

Anyway it's funny when you even mention Charles Manson in Finland and everybody is like, he was a loser, because the media says so.

He's so well known that everyone in finland knows who he is. We know John F Kennedy, John Wayne and fucking Charles Manson. It must mean something.

How can you make people kill people?

He had been institutionalised most of his life before the "manson family" killings. How many options does a person like that have? He had been in prison most of his life.

Anyway he became a cult leader god, for some idiots, who believe any of the shit the drug addled "family" told in court.

Henry Rollins tried to release his record through SST Records in the 80's and it's actually pretty good.

a mountain of drugs, an ideology, an environment of violent retributions, recruiting vulnerable people

governments seem quite able at it

the chicken came before the egg, dude. that guy is precisely the type of person who shouldn't be allowed to have any options, but the system failed us as always. he was a psychopath who refused to comply with our societal standards of basic respect for others who if released would repeat the same behavior over and over. he was meant to be locked for life

Actually i have a history with psycopaths. You don't have to believe me, but i probably have seen more evil stuff, since i was maybe 16 than you ever will.

But in Charles Mansons case, it's not the same thing. Manson were more of a follower, than a leader.
