I'm just making sure that those who deserve the tickets, get them. You have to really want them for £150 a ticket. I'm doing it for the real fans.

Seriously though, I did sell my tickets for the Somerset House show and made very little on the face value - the ultimate cost paid was determined by the bidders - auction started at £0.99. I had originally planned to go, but we had major issues so was forced to sell them and the bombing happened on the day as well so was glad I hadn't made travel arrangements.

For the sensitive ones, I bet you cried when you first saw bonzai kittens and your favourite film is The Bodyguard.

You British twat, the "real" fans are the one's most deserved of paying no further than actual sale price. Seems your definition of a real fan is forking out no matter the cost. Starting a bidding at $0.99 gives you no merit at all, you know exactly how much you're going to get back from them. If you wanted to make sure the real fans get it, find a community such as this and sell them for sale price. But money must mean too much to you for that, I understand. What you call the sensitive ones are the people that have had to buy scalped tickets, from pieces of shit like you. Happy to see you're smug they pay for your holidays. The scalped ticket I had to buy at near triple price for the Sydney show, that WAS my holiday, and it cost a damn side more than it should have.

No one cares for anything further from you here mate, so in returning you're just looking for a rise.

BINGO! the remaster is fantastic. Great job by the mastering team.

On a tangent, anyone know who handled the European LP cut (master)?

Do you mean little Olive? I've never cared to much about her to be honest. I loved the the first three albums but each one took a closer step towards generic mainstream rock which is not a bad thing in itself. I'm not sure if Nick had anything to do with i but what put me off was that QOTSA got more vocalcentric with each passing album and their musicality appeared to wane.

I love the first three albums, but with each album you could sense a growing confidence within Josh which was nice for him but made the emphasis less about Josh's guitar, and more about his voice, this seemed to grow from S/T, to R, to SFTD and by the time Lullabies came around it was too much. They started to sound more and more like every other vocalcentric rock band.

Lullabies and Era stuff, I wouldn't  turn it off if it was on the radio (I don't listen to radio...but you get the point)  but I wouldn't pay for it either. At around SFTD they started to fuck around too much with the old material lwhen playing live which I felt was almost perfect to begin with. I found myself bored at their shows. the only high spot I can recall after seeing them (5 times in the last ten years) was that Goatsnake were phenominal and so were Millionaire. They now destroy Mexicola. Compare the version from Bob's Garage and check any nymber of post 2003 versions on youtube and you'll see the difference.

I'm the first to admit that their need to put their shoulder to the wheel and push in order to make money is far more important than "art" or any perceived niche audience and pandering to that wouldn't be honest, so I respect where they're going, but I've declined to get on the bus.

Seriously though, if you want to call me a cunt, do it in the Misc.Bullshit forum and create an appropriate thread, post a link here if you want to, but leave this thread to the cleverer members here so they can enjoy discussing the new QOTSA remaster. If you do that, I promise I'll make a monthly appearance and reply to a selection of posts and all contributers to that thread will get a special place in Vallhalla/Heaven/San Francisco when they die for letting the better natured and clearly more intelligent members of this forum get on with enjoying this thread as the author had intended.

Nice review there fella.

I absolutely agree that they could have been negative and simply re-released it as was, or even just remastered the original LP. Instead of a reissue, they decided to infuse the bonus tracks and remaster everything and created a new release in doing so.

I don't agree with you about this being their greatest hour, but it's horses for courses and me trying to say I'm right or vice versa is a tried and tested waste of time. I respect your opinion on that and I can see why many people would subscribe to that feeling. It's not hard when you consider how good a pop album SFTD was and how good a rock album R was. The sales speak for themselves as does the membership numbers on this forum. Less than 5000 in 2005, now there's 33,000+. They've definitely done themselves proud and I'm happy it's QOTSA that broke out.

My first experience with the self titled and the reissue differs to yours also. You advise that the original lacked immediacy and the remaster with it's altered structure/tracklisting leaves you in unfamiliar territory. When I first listened to S/T I felt it was a great stripped down rock album. No fucking about, no frills, it was perfect and needed especially considering how bloated and over produced and up themselves most rock band were in the mid to late 90's. It was welcome, it felt right and never left my cd player for weeks on end, it was an instant classic in my book and I still listened to it regularly up to the release of the remaster. Also I love how the dynamic works with the remaster, as you did, but as I'm so familiar with every track on it, even the reshuffling wasn't really a distraction, though it gave it a pleasant dimension and as I stated in my review on page 1, the mastering on those bonus tracks, the melding of them into the album instead of tacking them on at the end is most welcome and they did a bang up job with the master too by making them sound as if they belong there.
