the media has to stop giving so much attention to the killers. they're practically glorifying these people. it makes these disgruntled fucks want to go out in a blaze of glory rather than just kill themselves. very sad.

"That which is rewarded will be repeated."

The reward being a famous death and 15 minutes of posthumous 'glory'.

yep. there you have it.

i really wish they wouldn't have released the name of the killer. he's a coward who doesn't deserve the attention he'll be getting now.

everyone talks about safety and what people could have done to make it safer. no one ever thinks about what we can do to prevent people from WANTING to do something like this.

Is there any political action at all?
No will to figure out a way to make these things not as common?

As an outsider it looks as if people are saying 'shit happens'.

When the shootings happened in Montreal a while back, I was reading the report and came across a line that said something about Vampirefreaks.com. Well, my daughter had an account there so I called home to talk to her. Now we are quite a way from Montreal, so she was never in danger, but when I asked her if she knew a guy who went by the name "Trench" she said ya. When I told her what he had done I could here her almost drop the phone, and in that instant, everything I had said about being careful who you meet on the internet became very real to her. It's the only good I've seen from this wave of crap, I feel like the news should deny them their "glory" as well, report details if needed, but let's bury them as annoymous killers, never to be named.

It seems to me that it's up to students to take a fucking stand at this point.  We need to make it known that we're not going to stand by while these selfish fucks mow down our fucking classmates.

And for Christ's sake, if one of these guys shows up, fight back!  You're telling me an entire student body can't take down one guy?

Sorry, I'm not in a good mood.

It's not that easy man. The kid fucking walked in an auditorium and started shooting at people from the stage.

There is so much darkness in the world it makes me fucking depressed.

I was out of line and I apologize.  I hope your friends are ok.

There are some fucked up people out there.

Yeah, I know a good handful of people down at NIU too, it's pretty sad that this keeps happening, and it just seems to keep getting more and more frequent. People keep saying that there needs to be stuff done to prevent it from happening again, but there really isn't a whole lot you can do about it, unfortunately. My heart goes out to everyone down there.

"Shit happens" seems to be our generation's motto. My best friend called his friend at NIU to make sure he was ok, and he replied: "yeah. I'm really happy because now classes are cancelled."

Nothing shocks us anymore and that's sad and sick.

Even greater news now:

The Westboro Baptist Church (click) plans on protesting at the victims' funerals.

They've released statements saying, "Thank God for the 5 Dead at NIU" and "God Sent the Killer to NIU"

It's sick man.

Why can't school shooters do their deeds at the WBC instead?

Because then things would make sense. What makes the US different than Sweden and all the other countries that don't have their youth shooting up schools?

USA has a violent history and I guess society is harder for some people there.
It's harder for crazed killers to get their hands on guns in Sweden. Organized crime gangs have guns but they only shoot each other.

Oh yeah, THOSE people.  dry.gif  I'm glad I have not decided on a spiritual following yet...

Also, it seems that some people can't even feel remorse, as in certain serial killer cases... It's a scary thing that people chose these ways to deal with their emotions.

The people writing the constitution didn't expect this kind of society perhaps.

Yeah that i have no doubt of. And i totally understand the can of worms involved with rewriting bits and pieces and what that can turn into. Still seems silly to have people fighting for their right to own something that's sole purpose is to shoot somebody.

Yeah, and it was more about miliias and all that jazz...but, if we changed things in our consitution because it wasn't relevant today, then we'd have to change a lot of other things too, which would be very complicated. It's true when someone says guns don't kill people...
