http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNqlK9OKiLU so they brought the old SFTD banner back? And anyone complaining about the setlist can go fuck themselves, do you understand QotSA haven't played a show in the US (other than LA) in 3 years, you people out there are so spoiled I admit that at this point I am pretty spoiled, i'll fuck myself tonight. Misfit Love and Turing on the Screw were really good. |

Really not impressed with this setlist. Come on guys, rehearse some old stuff, I've heard EV too much. i admit i was pretty bored until the encore. they played all the singles. they were really tight and looked like they were having a good time but yeah the setlist. the encore totally made up for it, they put out the extra mic stand and we just waited and focused on the shadows knowing Lanegan would be strolling out at the last second to take control. he didn't move the whole time, just gripped the mic stand and did his thing. it was awesome. |

ALO, we'll probably be standing right next to each other like usual, i'll look for you and the homies. Sounds good! Are you shootin' for pit? If so, what time are you getting there? A friend of mine just went by, and said there are about 20 people there already. my girl possibly has to work until 8 so i think we are going to get there around 9ish. i got the cheap $50 tix, they are GA but i don't know what that means at Club Nokia. Is the pit different than the floor? |

TCV on Wednesday night at the Club Nokia in LA. Josh dedicated the song New Fang to his new friend Nick Oliveri. I had perm-a-grin for the rest of the night. |

interview with ludes began and josh looked oddly naked as he took the mic - and nothing else. I've never seen Josh without his guitar on stage, and i could almost imagine a guitar shaped indent on his figure as he put 'the shine' on the entire audience. He moved, shimmied, gestured, moved to the front of the stage, danced and basically - proved he could work a stage without his guitar. (I totally blame myself for the preconceived notion that he couldn't ) Josh sang, crooned, shouted - he's clearly comfortable manning this machine, and covering vocal styles from the high, to the low, to the Canned Heat - he's all over it. i had to comment on this, i can't help but fucking crack up when Josh sings without his guitar, looks so odd, it's like he's belly dancing, love it! |

mp3s ripped from vinyl? Sweet, now we can combine the shortcomings of vinyl AND compressed digital. No offence man but I'd love to hear what "short comings" viynl has? I don't know if you recall, but CD's are better quality form of recordings that vinyl, hence the whole reason why CD's were created and the thing that most people including yourself are now forgetting now that vinyl is becoming cool again. By the way, I am a fan of vinyl, I am glad that it is making a comeback, but CD's on a good sound system are better sounding containers of music. MP3's on the other hand are a joke. k, so how does it make sense that the mp3 download from the vinyl is converted from vinyl, does that mean they recorded it in analog and recored that to vinyl or did they take the digital recordings and make the vinyl. it seems like you would get some loss if it went from digital to vinyl? help me understand pleeze. |

(set list remembered after the fact) nobody loves me dead end friends mind eraser elephants scumbag blues bandoliers reptiles elephants new fang caligulove gunman spinning in daffodils warsaw the show was fantastic - and I would have been so sad to have missed it!!! - well, i wouldn't have known what i'd missed; but sad either way. they launched with nobody loves me, and my first thought was - 320 kbps internet leak, actual cd or not - no stereo is going to recreate this. I have the leak, and i hope the real recording brings more of the dynamic sound that the live show did. it was an unrelenting ass shaking through and through. gunman will always make me think of M.O.R. - but watching all four of them moving together, jamming - smiling at each other- made me smile, and for a minute i wondered what chris goss heard when he listened to this song, and if he was at the show tonight. reptiles, live - takes on a much bigger sound, one i'm hoping that i can somewhat recreate on home stereo play. the jangly desert guitar riffs is some of my favorites from the album, and live - with jpj's bass/ the guitar interplay - is rad. grohl is just a monster on the drums, - a blur of arms, hair - and shit i don't know how to convey in terms cus i don't know drums, - but new fang, and mind eraser and the double drum hits/beats - -whatever - make me glad he's playing drums again, with whoever, for however long. jpj hung to the back enjoying the horsepower. the bass lines of elephants and reptiles was - triumphant - and happy. elephants, bandoliers, reptiles and gunman really light up with jpj's touch. when these guys groove - it's truly all encompassing. alain's solo intro to scumbag blues touched on blues, soul and the exquisite - and almost too short, but when the rest of the band launched into the song it was just hip jarring goodness. some parts of the show, alain was stage right doing his thing, while josh turned left into jpj and grohl and jammed- and i couldn't help but think that alain was the only thing tethering them... interview with ludes began and josh looked oddly naked as he took the mic - and nothing else. Up in the mezzanine - people were moving. I haven't been to many shows where people were so happy to be there, and just enjoy the show. The only issues I could see were the Wiltern staff trying to stem the flow of 'medicinal marijuana' ( not successful) and I also noted a lot of people with their kids, or ? with them. I had earplugs in the whole time and third song to the end took one out to 'gauge' the sound - LOUDLOUDLOUD - with the earplugs it sounded pretty much perfect. yeah, what she said! good write up A$$y, great to meet Eyes and her hubby, and saw ALO. Fun to go to a show and recognize peeps. |

i didn't make it to the Fu show last night, and me thinks Rydman didn't either. rough stuff, but with the holidays looming it's really easy to forgo shows and just couch it.... i love live shows, especially small ones like at the troubadour. but, i had to bite the bullet and buy a plane ticket home for the holidays. talk about highway fuckin' robbery! i'm pretty sure I could have flown to London, and Amsterdam for the price I just paid to fly to Kenfuckintucky over the holiday week..... yeah, you're right, didn't make the show, had some allery issues and i don't think the people standing near me would have liked all the snot and sneezing plagued me all night. but i did get the re-issued Jalamanta on vinyl in the mail yesterday and it is beautiful. absolutely beautiful! |

Last night was pretty fun. I was pissed at first because a 45 minute drive took an hour and half because of traffic but the Coronet is across from the Beverly Center so what do you expect? Anyway, I had never been to Largo but had heard about its strict policies such as no talking and no showing up late and no photos so I was paranoid about not being let in so I got in second row which was cool. Jon Brion opened the show with a piano number and it was damn cool,. Greg is really funny and his opening skit on Coachella was cool. The first guest was some nameless guy who wrote "He's just not that into you" and he talked about bands and college and he was harmless since he was on for like 10 minutes. Rhyss Darby was really funny but I noticed a trend of Greg just talking about inane bullshit, nothing serious at all, which is fine but I knew Josh would fit right in and just blather about whatever like an Xrated episode of Seinfeld. Josh came out and he was really funny talking about the Desert, Coachella, Karoake (he does Sade ad Roy Orbison), and just tons of really off the wall things.Greg finally got around to asking about any new projects of his and Josh replied that he was taking his first break in ten years and it started that morning and ended tonight, so thats as serious as it got. After that he called Alain Johannes (still shaving his head) and for Troy to play with Jon Brion on drums. Troy did not come up but I saw him (in a sweet suit as always) and Serrina walking to the backstage dressing room across the anteroom in the place as I exited to my car. Josh and company played this bluesy, smoky, rocky kick ass song with a few whispered lyrics by Josh. Josh's guitar looked so small in his hands ad it looked like he could snap it in half but he was really in the moment with his eyes closed and dancing around. He traded guitars with Alain and played bass (!) for the last half of the song and I was really impressed by what a musician he is along with Jon Brion, who looked fucking awkward on the drums, but got the job done. I pulled out my iphone and turned it on and as it was searching for service they ended the song and the show was over, Josh wanted to do a ful bow to the crowd with Greg and everyone but he just moved away to finish the show and that would have been the extra 30 seconds I needed to get a signal and take a photo with my phone so I was sad I didn't time it right. Josh was wearing the same thing he wore to the natasha show back in august though so I have plenty of pictures of that. So all in all a fun night, but nothing revealed. hey were you the dude in the white shirt sitting second row about the middle? if so i was sitting next to you on your left. i'll say what's up next time. good show. i wish josh would have actually answered that last question, and when he was about to Greg asked him if he wanted to play some jams. |

Picked this one up today. First listen through sounds pretty damn cool. Great band. I hope this album blows it up for them. It is a great album, kind of drags on at the end but a fabulous effect. wow this album blew me away, the bonus dvd is a must! kind of drags at the end? are you kidding The Last Baron is one of the best songs on the disc, that bass line that comes in mid way is so groovilicious. |
