This such an awesome piece of timing and sound, why is it you do not like it?

For the same reason I don't like Vampire Weekend songs - it doesn't breathe or go anywhere, it just hammers away with the same intensity, speed and general rhythm for two and a half minutes.

Listen to it, and immediately listen to the instrumental jam in the second half of TCV's "Warsaw" - it's the fully realized version of "Hispanic Impressions." Just took Homme a few years to really hone the idea.

I disgree, I really like the sound and rhythym of this track, has some tasty licks and beats. Maybe it was meant for people without musical training. Like me.

Fuck yeah, I like their food. They understand the richness and importance of simple food.

Texans don't, but that's ok, because their grasp of culinary concepts is like Sylvester Stallone's grasp of cinema - no subtlety whatsoever, but shameless and full of enthusiasm, which is what makes them awesome.

This song is sort of like tex-mex in that the passion and ideas are clearly there, and that in itself is appealing, but they don't quite have the musical maturity to back it up and give it the proper treatment it deserves. A little too much flour and not enough chili powder in the gravy.

Just smoke some of your fresh garden herb, re-read my posts, and listen to the two tracks side by side - you'll hear the difference and see what I'm talking about. Musical training is no match for a little ganja-fueled perspective.

I think Tenacious Z just nailed it. I was never keen on Hispanic Impressions and I never knew quite why, but Z put it very eloquently.

hmmmm  the 2nd half of warsaw has a similar timing and shres a couple of the same notes.

but i cant lump them together in the slightest...

hispanic impressions makes me feel like i am on a fucking carpet ride with flips and narrow misses.

the second half of warsaw reminds me of driving in some black deathmobile at of the stroke of midnight passing from the world of the living to the underworld just as it goes from the bluesy harmonica sounding guitar part.

they both have a circus beat at parts.  but thats about it

when people start talking about songs and why they like or dislike them, it just comes across as really... boring.

it's only boring when people have little to nothing to say about them, Holte. A person figuring out why they like the drums can actually help them elevate their palette and expand their awareness. Indeed music is the gift that keeps on giving.

its true to a point though.  the average listener wants a DJ to tell them what they like and what they don't/aren't supposed to like anymore.
