A Town Called Panic
10/10

This.  Watched it a while back and laughed my ass off.  God so funny and clever.

Another one I watched recently -

Rubber - 8/10.  I am not sure how to explain this one.  It's about a tire.  Yep a tire that can kill people.  Very interesting with a lot of dark humor.  Different than anything else I have ever watched.  It's streaming on Netflix, definitely worth checking out, esp if you are into indie type stuff.

Well when Mr. Oizo makes movies they are quite special.
you should check out Steak as well, that movie even has Kavinsky and SebastiAn as actors haha.

Well Gaspard from Justice made an apperaence in Rubber tho.

love all of them, can't wait to see his new movie called Wrong ^^

finally saw the Girl With The Dragon tattoo remake, it was pretty good, specially the opening credits and soundtrack, the Lisbeth actress was fantastic Craig less so, cinematography crap compared to the original overall prefer the original

'The Dead' 8/10 - zombie apocalypse in Africa. Pretty damn good for something so obviously low-budget.

Fassbender is amazing, very natural, and with incredible range of expression
As well as the incredibly sexy accent

Saw My Dog Tulip the other night, really enjoyed it, mostly because Tulip was a crazy bitch and it reminded me of my own dog :-) 7.5/10

Saw Moneyball recently too, I don't know a thing about Baseball but this movie was pretty great. 8.5/10

Watched the Drive Blu-Ray before that, I loved the film in the cinema and really enjoyed it this time round. I ate a decent amount of mushrooms before it started and by the end the visuals and music were amazing. But the Q&A session with Refn afterwards was agonising and went on forever. It would have been interesting on a normal day but it was just the wrong thing to be watching for me at the time. 9/10 (the film, not the experience)

Martha Marcy May Marlene - 6/10

decent movie but i wasn't a fan of the ending at all. i mean, i understand the purpose of the ending but i still didn't like it. it felt like the movie was just a build-up to nothing. left me feeling like things were unresolved.

Goon

Not going to bother rating it. Not really fair to. I wasn't crazy about how it was edited, nor the fact that certain aspects of the game of hockey were skewed, but it isn't supposed to be Oscar quality. It's a feel good film. Probably not for everyone, but I really liked the idea of having this giant teddy bear of a person who makes a living beating the hell out of people. IMDB has it rated 7.5 / 10 and it's at 71% on RottenTomatoes FWIW. It may just be my undying love for the sport, but I really enjoyed it. Worth a watch if you've got a night off.

I'm thinking of having a B/W Movie night for my Birthday
so Far Rumblefish and Eraserhead are contenders for B/W films that are entertaining, nostalgic, and won't involve to high of a level of concentration to enjoy

I love About A son the documentary style one, gives a great insight to Kurt.
the other is total shiza although I have only watched half of it...

GHOST RIDER 6/10

darker than the first but with just as much cheese, and this is some serious cheese.....graphics ain't too bad either.

Secretariat - 9/10 You'd have to like Diane Lane to like this movie, but I learned a lot, not having known anything about the owner or trainer. It was a great story. Penny Tweedy is still living in Colorado and had a cameo in the movie.

Cabin in the Woods: 9/10

Really good. I'm not a big horror fan myself, and I'm not quite sure I'd categorize this as horror (sci-fi? comedy?), but it was the best scary movie I've seen in a long time.

I had high expectations and expected a twist, but this was better than I'd hoped in every way.

saw a bunch of shit during SXSW a week or 2 ago (been a blur since...not to mention during). probably won't mention them all, but....it must be said...

Brit Marling is the shit. Get used to her name if you haven't already heard it. She is the lead actress and co-writer of probably the 2 best films I saw, Another Earth and Sound of My Voice.

Sound of My Voice - 7.8/10 - About 2 reporters who go undercover into a small cult centered around a woman who claims to be from the future. Of course their intent is to expose her as a fraud, but of course they start to become convinced and drawn in. (And who can blame them? I would believe anything spoken by Marling's hypnotically soothing voice.) Would have been a higher rating, but there are 2 scenes that I "had to" close my eyes through because I am the squeamish type. Nothing much worse than Fear Factor or the pie eating contest scene from Stand By Me....but I don't watch that shit either. (what's with all the vomiting in TV and movies these days? sheesh)

first 12 minutes of Sound of my Voice streaming on their website. Opens this weekend I think.

Going on a Japan trip soon, so I've been boning up on my Ghibli.

Laputa: Castle In The Sky - 9/10
Standard boy meets girl, tries to find a floating castle story. Great bunch of characters, and some really moving moments. Just a touch too long for me.

Grave Of The Fireflies - 8/10
Teenage boy and his toddler sister try to survive in WWII Japan. Some truly haunting stuff, which at one point made my jaw literally fall open which never happens. Would probably be a 10 but I much prefer happy stories to sad ones.

My Neighbour Totoro - 10/10
Fantastic story about two girls who move to the country with their father. Lots of huge grins throughout.

All highly recommended!

More gold, this time about witches. Loved the laid back nature of the film, not a lot happens but is still full of magic moments.

Only Yesterday - 8/10
Another laid back and relatively uneventful offering from Studio Ghibli, but the protagonist is very likable and flashbacks are handled in an interesting fashion.

Porco Rosso - 9/10
Wasn't expecting to like this at all, but turns out pigs can fly. Some really beautiful locations and animation, and great characters.

Ocean Waves - 6/10
High school coming of age story. Really good attention to detail in some of the scenes, but didn't like the story.

The Thing (2011) 7/10
Well, it was always gonna be on for a drubbing but to be fair it's pretty good - just unnecessary and never likely to be anywhere near as good as the Carpenter one it prequels. Biggest flaws are the usual Hollywood nonsense - having to parachute Americans into it, rollercoaster nonsense at the end etc.
But it's entertaining enough in its unwanted way.

The Theatre Bizarre 1/5 - yuck. I even like Udo Kier, but they were just too talky and bloody. Bleh. Unless you like your sex with murder and amputation, you can skip it.
