WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush isn't troubled by some of the weakest approval ratings of his presidency, he said Thursday in a wide-ranging birthday interview with CNN's "Larry King Live."

"When history looks back, I'd rather be judged as solving problems (another pithy "bushism") and being correct, rather than being popular," Bush said.

(SNIP)

When it comes to the most controversial single decision of his presidency -- invading Iraq -- the president told King he would make the same choice again, even knowing that Saddam Hussein's regime did not have weapons of mass destruction.

"We removed a tyrant," Bush said. "He was an enemy of the United States who harbored terrorists and who had the capacity, at the very minimum, to make weapons of mass destruction. And he was a true threat."

(SNIP)

Bush predicted that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will be captured eventually.

"Oh, we'll get him," he said. "It's just a matter of persistence and patience."

(even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally)

• The president said he was "really surprised" by the death early Wednesday of Enron founder Ken Lay, who was a family friend from Texas.

"My hope is that his heart was right with the Lord, and I feel real sorry for his wife. She's had a rough go, and she's now here on Earth to bear the burdens of losing her husband, a man she loved."

Alright.  Somehow and I didn't know this was possible I really think I actually hate Bush more than before.  God damn he thinks he has actually solved problems.... grrr!

But anyways, reading this makes me want to start singing "If you're gonna be dumb, you got to be tough" from the Jackass movie for some reason. blink.gif

and in other news....

US authorities have disrupted a plot by foreign terrorists to attack the tunnel system running under lower Manhattan, it was claimed today.

FBI agents monitoring internet chatrooms used by extremists apparently uncovered planning to destroy vital transport networks in New York city.

One of the alleged plotters, identified as Amir Andalousli, has been arrested in Lebanon at America's request.

The New York Daily News reported that the scheme was to blow up the Holland Tunnel, the most southern road link between Manhattan and New Jersey, with the aim of causing a torrent of water to shoot out and flood New York's financial district.

I have a feeling that one day towards the end of his second term Bush will pull of a mask revealing himself to be Andy Kaufman or maybe not...but I'm still convinced Bush is Andy Kaufman...no man can be that stupid

the mark of a good man or woman is the ability to admit when you're wrong and to show everyone that you can learn from your mistakes. there's nothing that annoys me more than when people are ignorant of the truth. and this has been the case with the bush white house. they keep running with the lies because they're too proud (or stupid!) to admit they're wrong. YOU'RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE WHO HAS A BRAIN! why should anyone trust them? i sure as hell don't. they have absolutely ZERO credibility going forward for the rest of the term.

pathetic.
