What Does It Mean When One Eye's Pupil Is Larger Than the Other?

Unequal pupil sizes (anisocoria) are found in up to 20% of the general population, and may not signal anything abnormal. In some cases, however, unequal pupil sizes can be a symptom of many diseases or conditions such as:

Inherited Conditions: Inherited conditions affecting normal eye responses to light can cause unequal pupils.

Glaucoma: Unequal pupils can be related to sudden onset of angle closure glaucoma.

Nerve Disorders: Nerve disorders or damage, resulting from many diseases or sources, can cause unequal pupils.

Eye Injury or Inflammation: Unequal pupils have been associated with eye injury or eye problems such as inflammation.

Head Injury: Head injury or concussion can cause unequal pupils.

Botulism: Unequal pupils may be a symptom of severe food poisoning (botulism).

Medications: Certain drugs such as glaucoma medications can cause unequal pupils.

Alcohol Abuse: Unequal pupils sometimes are detected in cases of ongoing alcohol abuse.

Disease: Other conditions can cause unequal pupils, including diabetes and shingles associated with the herpes zoster virus.

Diabetes can cause unequal pupils?

Weeeeird. But i'm not diabetic. I just noticed it last night...and its the same eye that waters and looks tired constantly. I think it might be glaucoma from this medication I used to take that made me go blind for a week. If thats the case, i'm soooo suing.

I've got unequal size pupils as well. I've noticed them for a few years now, so it's probably not Glaucoma...damn, there goes my great excuse to smoke weed.

I have noticed that one eye is typically more iritated than the other, more red or bloodshot, often for no rhyme or reason. Maybe I should be worried, but I've had very very few medical problems thus far in my life.

The only one on that list that would be a possibility for me would be head trama or maybe a slight chance of diabetes.

Shit when I read that I was all "oh no! increased intracranial pressure!" because usually when I see unequal pupils in the ER it is the result of accident which usually equals a helicopter trip to a bigger hospital.

But anyways...

Im not crosseyed! Its really unnoticable, actually. I just noticed last night that one eye looked a little darker/different color than the other. People have told me all my life "Do you have two different colored eyes?" but as far as I know, they're just blue. The Adies Pupil thing kinda explains it. Its kind of a cool quirk, I think.

This is my guess.  No offense or anything.

You just seem like the type to get Shingles.
