Shiva (Judaism)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  (Redirected from Sit shiva)
Jump to: navigation, search

In Judaism, shiv'ah or shiva (Hebrew: שבעה ; "seven") is the week-long period of grief and mourning for the seven first-degree relatives: father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, and spouse. (Grandparents and grandchildren are not included). As most regular activity is interrupted, the process of following the shiv'ah ritual is referred to as sitting shiva. Shiva is part of a suite of customs for bereavement in Judaism.

for a half an hour?

that's kind of excessive.

And it wasn't even at the end of the party, when everyone was drunk. Made no sense.

other noteworthy things about bartending bar mitzvahs:

--the little girls with the stereotypical jewish noses

--the little boys with the stereotypical curly, jewish hair

--getting tipped well by the rich jewish people(and their rich, non-jewish friends)

and how! I don't see why people have given the jews such a hard time. They were generous and friendly with me. And I wish I had their hair. Mine's very fine and straight. Maybe that was Hitler's problem: jew-fro envy

Throw the jew down the well
so my country can be free
you must grab him by his horns
then we'll have a big party
