I have never been to Alpine before, I hear it's hard to find lodging and there is no camping... Either way, should be a great time!

I found some motel in town pretty easily. Doubt we're ever invited back though. It rained all day the day of the show and we came back covered in mud. Bathtub and sink were both covered in mud and probably some throughout the halls.
Well worth it for the 100 ft mudslide they had going though.

I saw Queens open for Rage back in 2007, and Alpine is a really special place to see a show. It's definitely in a very rural area with not much lodging near by, but I've also heard rumors that they are thinking about allowing people to camp on the grounds this year. Either way it's going to be an awesome show.
On a side note, why don't more bands go to Alpine? The only other act playing this summer is Jimmy Buffet. And even when they do have more than 2 shows a summer, it's almost always DMB and Ozzfest, not exactly shows I would want to see.

Yeah okay Wisconsin isn't the "coolest" state or whatever, but Alpine Valley, and Wisconsin in general, is awesome in the summer. There's so much to do, whether it's fishing, camping, Brewer games, Summerfest, or just getting plain old drunk, Wisconsin/Milwaukee has alot to offer in the Summertime. The winter on the otherhand...yeah it fucking sucks.

there are random hotels around, with a close one being Baymont - its right off 12 in Elkhorn. I am sure the Alpine Valley Lodge is long sold out by now, since its on grounds and gets way out of hand during the nights of shows.
Camping is also around, some places better known then others. I always preferred to camp at Scenic Ridge or Kettle Moraine.
love seeing summer shows at Alpine, so many incredible experiences

I don't think I'll go only because I plan on catching several pearl jam shows and several queens shows but I will consider... There are some really cool firework stores in WI. Some give you SHOPPING CARTS! SHOPPING CARTS FOR FIREWORKS!!

The only song I like by them is Heart in a Cage, very overrated in my opinion.

Yes it will.
You should have joined 10c if you wanted to go, and bought toronto / hamilton tickets and taken me with you for that matter...

You might have a better shot with TM. It took me 3 hours to get tix on Monday and I was one of the lucky ones. The Canadian presale was even worse
Reserved Seating on TM is $111 including fees. June 4.

I really hope I make it! The line-up is great. But I figure if worst comes to worst I can sell my ticket online and make a little profit.

Being PJ 20th Anniversary, I see a lot of unannounced things happening, possibly Temple of the Dog, AIC, guest stars. I wouldn't be surprise if Lanegan gets up with Queens. I also bet Julian Casablancas gets up with QOTSA for Sick Sick Sick.

Only 45 min? That's fucking lame, looks like I get to hear NON, GWTF, Lost Art, Feel Good, Witch, Little Sister, MIWC, etc for the umpteenth time.

Yup. But I got to hear Better Living when they opened for Soundgarden, so there is hope you'll hear something a little more unique...
But you really should have expected that seeing as QOTSA is not headlining...

Yeah I know, but I dont know what happened to Queens in the past few years as far as festivals are concerned. It seems like ever since they did that short little "reunion" tour in 2010 that the festival setlists are almost identical from night to night. That wasnt the case on previous tours. Although I do remember Queens playing a pretty awesome set that included Deaf and Fun Machine when they opened for RATM at Alpine Valley back in 2007, so maybe they will throw in some suprises. I havent checked the set time for Pearl Jam, but if they're playing a 3+ hour set, I'd expect there to be some guests on stage, given that it's a "special event" and all...
