So the time slot for Queens is set. 7:00-7:45 each night. Hope they don't just do a "hits" set. What about Lanegan? Does he have any obligations? Gonna have to check that out. 12 days to go......

Only 45 min?  That's fucking lame, looks like I get to hear NON, GWTF, Lost Art, Feel Good, Witch, Little Sister, MIWC, etc for the umpteenth time.

Yup. But I got to hear Better Living when they opened for Soundgarden, so there is hope you'll hear something a little more unique...

But you really should have expected that seeing as QOTSA is not headlining...

Yeah I know, but I dont know what happened to Queens in the past few years as far as festivals are concerned.  It seems like ever since they did that short little "reunion" tour in 2010 that the festival setlists are almost identical from night to night.  That wasnt the case on previous tours.  Although I do remember Queens playing a pretty awesome set that included Deaf and Fun Machine when they opened for RATM at Alpine Valley back in 2007, so maybe they will throw in some suprises.  I havent checked the set time for Pearl Jam, but if they're playing a 3+ hour set, I'd expect there to be some guests on stage, given that it's a "special event" and all...

Maybe they just don't care since they aren't playing to their fans.

The one thing about the S/T tour that worries me is they may realize they can get away with playing the same shit every night and still keeping the majority of people happy.

East Coast, I can't see Lanegan performing with Queens just because it's Pearl Jam's 20th.  I don't have any inside knowledge but it doesn't make much sense to me.  If I thought there was a chance I'd go just in case.  That being said there is a great chance you get the same set both nights.  I would think in general Pearl Jam fans would be more excited for Lanegan then Queens though.

Good score on the seats though, I'm sure it will be a fantastic time.  I've got 3 Pearl Jam shows next month as well, and a Mudhoney heading show.  Good times ahead..

Main Stage is Mudhoney 6-6:45, QOTSA 7-7:45, Strokes 8:15-9, and PJ is listed as "9:30 pm - ?" There will be all kinds of random guests.

I was bummed to hear the 45 minute time slot as well, escpecially after seeing the s/t tour. O well.  Still really looking forward to this though!! I'm guessing Eddie, Julian and Josh will do their Mercy Me cover- and I'm also guessing a lot of special guests will be showing up. Rumor has it over at the 10 club forum that Huey Lewis & the News is a special guest.  I am hoping that is a joke, cuz it just doesn't make sense.
I'm driving to Alpine from Pittsburgh, going to wrigley field to catch a ballgame on the way and camping at Bark River which has a shuttle (my boyfriend & I are never DD's at concerts, just cant do it.) Yea!

Can't wait for this!  It's getting so close.
I'm disappointed with the short set time also, but since they've been playing Better Living lately I'm at least hoping to hear that!  Don't think I've ever heard Go with the Flow live, either, so I would be happy to hear that.  Even if it is a greatest hits setlist, I know they'll be great.  Just wish The Strokes were before before Queens.  Don't really want to sit through them after Queens to wait for PJ.
Apparently there will also be a PJ museum set up.  Gonna be a nice weekend.

Well, I'm a fan and I'm so happy to be able to see them again twice this year, even if they aren't the main act. Corpusse - which PJ shows are you going to see after the weekend?

The 2 shows in Toronto and one in Hamilton.

Pearl Jam are great live but their fans are fantastic as well.  It's amazing how different my experience was following pearl jam with an ex girlfriend compared to how it is with queens.  Every night I saw the same people in every city, but not only that they are super hardcore jumping up and down while I was exhausted from the travel.  They also seem at more friendly an organized when it comes to travel arrangements, meet ups, places to crash ect.  I guess there is just so many more of them and they are more experienced too.

I think 10c is one of the greatest things a band has ever done.  I'm not sure why no one else has thought selling tickets based on seniority is better then first come first serve.

Simply an awesome show!  Queens gave us a 3 song set of sky, mexicola, and headache in between the hits.  The strokes were pretty cool, and pearl jam tore it up.  Josh and julian each sang a song with pearl jam, and they closed the night with mark arm singing kick, out the jams, such an awesome night.  Now if only we could get out of this muddy parking lot!

The response was pretty positive.  I saw quite a few people with Queens shirts on.
I was very happy with their set.  They definitely made the most of the 45 minutes they had.  So happy to hear Headache and Sky is Falling!

Anybody know what the setlist was last night?

Presumably the recorder cut it off in disgust.

I had a fantastic time there, the first evening was pretty awesome - I was so happy to hear Headache and Monsters in the Parasol biggrin.gif And In the moonlight with Josh was pretty sweet! Josh seemed to be in a very good mood and chatted with the audience. I was enjoying myself in my seat, dancing and screaming and singing  cool.gif
Some really nice guy gave me free seated tickets for the second night and they were even better than those of the first night. The second night set was rad as well - and they played Fun machine!! The longer the qotsa set lasted the more people went to join the gig and lots of people partied at the end. Eddie on the cowbell was hilarious. He and Josh together on stage was a pretty funny sight as well haha. I had a fucking blast! I want more, more, more biggrin.gif

Awesome weekend!. Crossed quite a few songs of my Pearl Jam 'seen it' list. Temple of the Dog was awesome, but I was really hoping for Neil Young on night #2. Oh well.  I had no idea they changed the schedule on day 2, so I missed most of the QOTSA set. Not too disappointed because they played mostly singles, but I'm glad I walked in on Fun Machine. Jam was sick.

Anyone know why QOTSA missed the Rockin in the Free World jam on night 2? They probably just had to head home but I was hoping for some juicy gossip

That was pretty much one of the best weekends of my life, even through camping in the rain. I thought every band was stellar, even the early bands such as Liam Finn and Joseph Arthur. I met a lot of awesome people camping and on the shuttle, Wisconsin and Michigan people are super friendly. We got two free tix at the campsite from people who ended up having to leave, then we gave them away to others since we had some already.  chris Cornell has not lost his voice, he sounded amazing. Checking out wrigley field on the way just added to how great it was. Plus the pirates were in town...haha. the drive back to pittsburgh was sad, knowing it was over.

So now, what is next on the agenda for qotsa? New album?

You're hearing one side of the stage setup. Recording is not a good representation of what they sounding like there.

Yeah I've seen some good quality video on youtube, but like I said just a bit more on the vox for this and it'd be good.

I've been working on a "matrix" style mix / merge of the two audio sources for qotsa's 3/9/11 show - dropping the guitar heavy mix into the middle of the other farther away source, and it's sounding pretty nice. I need to talk to the two tapers - want to release my mix once I'm satisfied with it....

It sure sounds good, I think!
