Remember Qotsa Survivor?

I guess we'd need up to 10 submissions for each song & then a poll for each one, so yeah, it could take a while. we'd start from track one of the first cd and work our way til the end. we may lose interest at some point and not make it there, but along the way we'd all benefit from discovering some damn good performances -- which is my main motivator for wanting to do this.
mp3s, youtubes, anything would work. I think we should base this strictly off of audio quality, though.
I'd even volunteer to organize it.
anyone on board?

Youtube is pretty useless if you are basing it on audio quality, and I doubt people are going to dig through all the dead links in the audio thread to d/l shows.
How about a poll to decide on rekrek's ideal live setlist? Focusing on songs in general rather than specific performances.
EDIT: Seems as I was wrong, so here's something constructive instead:
Queens Of The Stone Age
Regular John - Winnipeg 99 - Rock Am Ring 03
Avon - Glastonbury 02
Walkin' On The Sidewalks - Fuji Rock 02
Mexicola - Big Day Out 01
You Can't Quit Me Baby - Pinkpop 08
Rated R
Feel Good Hit Of The Summer - Werchter 07
Better Living Through Chemistry - Rock Am Ring 03
Songs For The Deaf
No One Knows - Montreux 05
A Song For The Dead - Big Day Out 03
Lullabies To Paralyze
The Blood Is Love - Montreux 05
Long Slow Goodbye - Brixton Academy 05
Era Vulgaris
B-Sides, Bonus Tracks & Covers
Thumb - Wiltern 05

If we don't want trouble should we not try to stop it?
Is this what you wanted it to be? Don't you think it's time to rip off the blindfold; or just keep doing what you're told?

audio quality? do you mean, what is the best sounding recording vs what is most fun to watch? if that's what you meant, then i disagree although i do want to see plenty of pro shot stuff and sound board recordings. since we enjoy arguing, i mean debating ;p, we should open this up to not only audio quality but to appearances, wastedness and dance moves, horniness, etc. all the youtube links are going to be Ryanne's channel and QOTSA Archive. you get bonus debate points if you can link elsewhere. C:
to kick it off, i present to you my choice for Regular John (Winnipeg 1999) Power 97 radio station at the Pyramid Cabaret

Why a song of Lullabies ffs?
LtP is my favourite Queens album. It took a lot of shit here and also of music journos. I've listened through all QOTSA's albums. Personally I can say that I love all of the albums. Every album has his own strenght or/of weakness. When I listen to SftD, songs like Six Shooter completely irritate me. It's so fucking senseless and the music (IMHO) sucks big time. Nick's contributions just don't do "it" for me. That's a matter of opinion I guess.
Next to LtP. With the expection of Skin on Skin I can listen this album on repeat. I got me into Queens. I saw QOTSA 2x in 2005 and it got me into the band, tho Natasha got a lot of shit that times. Line-up was great though. The line-up right now kills it.
Why The Blood is Love?
This live-version of The Blood is Love is the one of the few live versions around. I see a band who completely into the song, the end (the drumming!) is amazing. Everyone in the band is into it. Josh included. It's one of the QOTSA songs that took a lot for me to "understand" but sinced I watched the performance at Montreux, I got it.

Song For the Dead - Big Day out 03
This would have to be my most-watched youtube clip ever. I just love everything about it, from "Everybody feelin' ALRIGHT? Stick with me man, I ain't goin' nowhere", to the absolute beast on the drums, the loud slide guitar, the stage presence of the man on the mic who barely moves, the half-naked cult figure on bass...it just seems to have all the best parts of what made up the band at that time. There could be better audio &/or visual performances of this tune out there, but I'll always come back to this one.

by audio quality.. I suppose I should've instead said both the clip/file's audio quality and also uniqueness. What makes it stand out? Is there a 5 minute solo? A completely different riff/chorus? What makes THIS performance of a specific song that much more awesome than all the rest? if those questions can easily be answered, then it should be submitted as one of the choices.
I suppose I'd make a topic for each song where we all suggest a few different performances of the song, and then once we have those I'd make a poll with 5-10 of them in mind. the winner of that poll would be stored for a full list of the all-time "BEST" qotsa performances, as voted on by us, for everyone to use as a reference. a quick guide to the best qotsa performances ever... sounds pretty awesome, right? well, it won't help us too much, but it'll definitely help out those not yet enitrely familiar with the band's epicness (some of my friends, for example.)
one more thing.. any chance I could be given the ability to turn regular threads into polls? it'd just be easier that way. I wouldn't have to make two topics per song, and this forum wouldn't be quite as flooded with these threads.
actually.. perhaps a different subforum should be set up specifically for this endeavour? then this forum wouldn't be cluttered with copious amounts of threads, either. I don't know, doesn't matter too much. I'll go on with this within the confines of the forum we're now using if this can't happen. I'll wait a couple days, though, just to make sure the general populous of the board is on board with the plan. see what I did ther----- nevermind

As far as making suggestions goes, I think everyone in one thread like this will work fine. Will weed out some of the more random songs (Skin On Skin, Six Shooter etc.), and be easier for everyone to find. I suppose you lose a lot of focus that way though.
When it comes to polling you could do a few songs in the same poll or even just a poll for each album to reduce clutter.

one thread per album for suggestions is what will work.. having it all in one thread like this would be too difficult. people posting a song here and there from all of the different albums out of order would be rather hard to monitor, and would not be very effecient
and polls for anything more than one thing at a time wouldn't be qotsa survivor. I suppose this shouldn't operate as a "survivor" series anyways.. I'll instead take 5-10 suggestions, throw them up in a poll, and then the one with the highest amount of views after a few days would be the victor. if I suspect any sort of foul play in the voting process, however, I'll be taking votes in manually either by PM or by having voters post in the a thread. I believe alias accounts altered the outcome of the original qotsa survivor. the poll was too close towards the end, and then one magically ended up with receiving a bunch of votes? yeah.. bullshit.

This Montreux Blood is Love performance is awesome, indeed. Really got me into the song, made me feel it a bit more.
You Can't Quit Me Baby at Pinkpop 2008 is really difficult to surpass, though.
